Happy February!

Can you believe we are one full month into 2009? Time truly does fly! So, how was your January? What words would you use to describe it? How do you expect February to be? I know that we all face different trials and situations in our everyday life. I know that life here will never be described as perfect and problem free, but are you excited about your life? Do you have anticipation about each new day that God blesses you with? If you can't say yes to these questions, why? We can blame it on many factors... but could it be that we are simply not submitting to the will of God for our lives?

Looking at the lives of many people, you would think that their prayer was, "Our Father, who art in Heaven... Thy Kingdom come, MY will be done..." Have you considered God's will for your life or are you trying to do those things you believe are best and will satisfy your soul? Let's look at it together for a moment.

How can I get on the same page as God? First, we need to understand that God's will is better for us than our own. Romans 12:2 says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." God's will is good and perfect for us. I have done many things in my life that cannot be called good or perfect. God has a perfect plan for you. He knows exactly where you are in your life and He knows why you are there. Trust God's will, trust His plan. When our trust is in Him and not ourselves a huge weight is lifted and peace begins to take its place.

Next, we need to understand that we were saved from our will to the will of God. 1 Peter 4:2 says, "That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God." Our will and God's will should be the same. We were saved to have the same mind as Christ. Our goals should be His goals. The Bible says that we are co-laborers with God. He saved us, not only to give us everlasting life, but to give purpose to that life. It is exciting to realize that the God of all creation has a plan, a purpose, and goals for me. Are you getting there yet?

The last thing I want to mention here is this... Jesus said in Mark 3:35, "For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother." You and I have a big brother. One who loves us, and watches over us. One who feels our fears and our pains. One who cares when no one else does. One who went before us, submitted to the will of His Father on the cross, so you and I would never have to go there.

Be excited about your life. Every day is a gift from God. Follow His plan for you and enjoy every minute of it.
