As we step into a new year, we often have renewed hopes and expectations. It is exciting to think about what the new year may bring and what changes may come. We sometimes think of ways we can improve ourselves and become better people. It seems to me that this would be a great time to revisit our vision here at Greene Ridge.
The first part of our vision statement says that we will seek to help, encourage, and love each other in our church family. The second section states that we will touch our community, those outside of our church, with God’s love and influence. The third and last portion of our vision statement says that we will seek to become the people God created us to be. So as you can see, our church vision statement affects our church, our community, and each of us personally.
Looking back at 2008, in what ways did you accomplish these things? How did you change the world? Who did you encourage or bless? How did you show God’s love to a lost and dying world? Are you more like Christ today than you were last year? These are all good questions, but more important than questions about last year are the questions about this year. How will you accomplish these things in 2009?
In closing, I want you to know that many of you have been a huge blessing and encouragement to me. Your faithfulness, your testimonies, and even your smile mean more to me that you know. God bless you and I wish you a wonderful new year. Now go change the world….one person at a time!
